Position Summary

Consistently apply specialized knowledge and skills in the management of nursing care for specific types of patient populations and their families. Recognizes the need for ongoing evaluation and inquiry to improve patient outcomes. The LPN participates in the management of patient care through organizing, prioritizing, and coping with multiple patient needs and skill requirements. responsible for appointment scheduling, diagnostic testing and medical record management. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the care services. Conveys a positive image of USF Health. May be assigned to specific medical specialty (e.g., Nephrology.) to help with patient care related to that specialty or may be expected to cross-cover multiple specialties.

Note: Must successfully demonstrate competencies within job position.

Position Requirements

Educational Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent. Licensed as Practical Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 – maintain an active Florida license.

Experience Requirements:
One year clinical care experience preferred. BLS and AED preferred, demonstrated competency within 180 days required.

Business Skill Requirements:
Knowledge of basic organizational tasks and patient care management skills with demonstrated specialty competencies. Ability to recognize and report abnormal symptoms of patient conditions. Ability to administer medication injections as ordered, within scope of your practice.. Aseptic technique preferred, demonstrated competency required within 90 days. Adept at electronic medical record and proficient in computer skills, including Windows and MS Office.
