Position Summary

This position will be responsible for working independently to insure that all patients presenting for care are appropriately processed based on RCO front-end policies and procedures. This includes registration of both demographic and insurance information into the PCIS system. Responsible for verification of insurance and other third party payers using multiple on-line products to insure that services provided are covered and payable. Responsible for all check-in and check-out processes including collection of appropriate co-payments, current outstanding balances and non-covered services. Responsible for entering charges for this location into the billing system and insuring that all front-end edits are addressed and cleared. Responsible for reconciliation of cash drawer, preparation of deposit and cash reporting for the practice site based on RCO policies and procedure. Will assist providers at this location with information and guidance related to insurance and managed care. Will be responsible for insuring that TES workfiles for this location are worked regularly to clear all TES edits. Will communicate and work closely with the RCO management regarding financial issues which may arise that are unique to this off-site location.

Position Requirements

Must be fluent and able to conduct business in English which includes reading, writing and speaking

Education: High school diploma.

Experience: Minimum 3 years of previous experience in a clinical setting, preferably large multi-specialty group working with front end processes related to proactive review to insure maximum payment for services provide. Knowledge of CPT-4 and ICD-9 coding. Experience with third party payers and managed care contracts and the ability to interpret payer requirements and limitations.

Skills: Excellent organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong computer skills and use of on-line payer websites. Must be able to work independently in order to accomplish the required tasks associated with the position for this practice site. Ability to interact professionally with diverse personalities at all times and act tactfully when dealing with patients on financial matters and other difficult situations.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Duties

Responsible for processing all patients (scheduled or walk-in) that present at this off-site location based on RCO policies and procedures. This will include arrival in PCIS Front Desk program, generation of necessary encounter forms, securing necessary signatures for HIPAA forms, consents, assignment of benefits, etc. for new patients to USF Health, securing copy of picture IDs, insurance cards and collection of applicable co-payment for all patients.

Responsible for the verification and updating of insurance information as required using various on-line products and review of the daily GERDS established for this location. Proactively contacting patients to address financial issues or insurance discrepancies (invalid insurance, non-participation issues, not authorized, not assigned to this primary care physician and/or USF primary care group), outstanding balances, etc. Responsible for making return appointments and assisting patients with referrals to other specialties within USF Health.

Duties

Responsible for entering all charges for services provided at this location and to work established TES workfile for this location in order to clear any TES edits. Responsible for running the missing charge report to insure that all charges for this location have been captured and billed. Regularly work with providers to clear any outstanding charges.

Responsible (in conjunction with practice site management) for insuring that all monies collected are deposited in a timely manner as established for this practice site and reported in accordance with RCO policies and procedures.
