Position Summary

Reports to the Director of Strategic Planning & Business Development in the USF Physician Group Administration. The Junior Data Design Analyst will assist in the overall design, analysis, and development of reports along with the writing of these reports based on detailed specifications provided by key stakeholders. This position will help develop data marts and will assist in pulling existing data from internal sources, organizing and summarizing data and formatting information into reports that meet the organization’s needs. The incumbent will be required to gain an in depth knowledge of the assigned software, including 3rd party tools, and will provide support to the Senior Data Analyst in USFPG’s data sources, SQL and other tools as assigned or necessary. The individual will work closely with USFPG Administration.

Position Requirements

Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Health Informatics, Health Sciences or other equivalent degree is required.

Experience Requirements: One or more years of healthcare data / informatics experience including SQL reporting. Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (i.e. pivot tables). Experience working with reporting tools such as SQL query creation, Crystal, Business Objects or other report writing tools. Application support and/or implementation experience. Comfortable with relational database concepts. Strong understanding of a wide range of interpretive analysis tools (e.g., trend analysis, spreadsheets, comparisons, graphs, summary versus detail charts, drill down, correlations, and exception analysis). Ability to question data quality in reports. Familiarity with Clinical databases or Electronic Medical Records database structure. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Health Informatics, Health Sciences or other equivalent degree. Two or more years of healthcare data / informatics experience including SQL reporting. Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (i.e. pivot tables). Experience working with reporting tools (SQL query creation, Crystal, Business Objects or other report writing tools).

Ability to manage deadlines. Ability to work individually and as a part of the team with minimum supervision. Excellent verbal, written and business communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical people. Strong planning, technology, and research skills. Interest in becoming a content expert in healthcare reporting databases and warehouses. Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Percentage 70

Prepares data according to defined criteria set. Collects data across a variety of applications and databases. Develops requirements and delivers projects in a direct working relationship with USFPG Administration. Must understand the value of the data, where it is coming from, and verify that it is accurate. Must have the ability to present information correctly using appropriate tools (spreadsheets, charts, etc), aggregates and statistical computations as requested. Accesses, imports, extracts, transfers and loads from numerous data sources (e.g. SQL TABLES, TEXT FILES, and Excel spreadsheets).

Percentage 15

Develops reports using various methods. Writes the reports needed for different teams, managers, decision makers or departments, along with subqueries, nested queries and complex SQL statements to present the required data. Presents timely, up-to-date data for time sensitive reports that are compiled at the end of a quarter or business cycle. Establishes automated reports as requested.

Percentage 10

Assists in monitoring and validating the accuracy of reports and will take corrective action to optimize, improve and fine tune queries as business needs dictate. Automates and streamlines existing reports. Ensures continuous monitoring of the consistency and quality of data. Prepares other ad-hoc analysis.
